The nesting period
& the idea of meeting a baby in the next few weeks...
I’m officially 34 weeks + 5 days… wow. I feel like I’ve been pregnant forever but also not? It is a weird feeling. Technically, my OB team will allow me to go to 39 weeks so that is really just a few short weeks away. (I have a hx of preeclampsia + hypertension), but in this pregnancy with medication, I’m totally ‘fine’, so maybe 3rd times a charm ✨
My pelvis is very non existent, I’m slower and definitely sleep well because I’m so exhausted but at the same time sometimes wake up every hour to unload my gallons filled bladder or just restlessness. I feel/think the baby is head down and is there to stay. I feel like my belly is very low/heavy.
It is wild to think the waking hours of 1-4am may be my new normal once again. Newborn sleep patterns or lack of sleep never bothered me but I am also part co-sleeper (shock!) + will breastfeed to sleep (shock!).
Lately, I’ve just been in this ‘nesting’ phase … getting everything ready for the baby. Looking through old newborn clothes, cleaning the changing table, sorting through new things we’ve been gifted, prepping the car seat. I ordered a new bassinet which is exciting but otherwise keeping it low key. I’ve never been one for gadgets or lots of things (see - baby registry post). I like a couple onesies, cloth diapers, swaddles, stuffies + my snuggleme. It is becoming quite more nostalgic than I thought it would be.
Sifting through all the boys ‘old’ things, memories with outfits or toys — its all very sweet.
Thus far, Baby Sofia definitely has an upbeat personality. She loves to dance around when her big brother John plays the piano. When I’m hungry, she seems to be hungry and kicks/punches for some food, then right before bed she is doing it again— just like her brothers. While I’ve been at my weekly NSTs (non stress tests), they’ve said she is quite active and hope she will be interested in becoming a ballet dancer like I was. Of course— finally being a dance mom has always been one of my most exciting dreams (haha!). & girl things are just so much cuter — the colors, the prints — so cute!
So lately, I’ve been just trying to take it slowwww, but with two toddlers + spring arriving its a bit difficult. First it was John’s birthday, then JP’s this weekend and my own shortly follows along with Easter (our favorite holiday). Prepping for my new garden, Spring Break + a new baby all happening all at once.
